SOLOMAN ABBOTT fought in the American Revolution, serving as a private in Captain Mapp's Company and under others. He died in 1856 and is buried in the Abbott Cemetery, which is located near Cherokee Springs, South Carolina. A Revolutionary War monument is erected at his grave. His wifePhoebe died in her middle age of paralysis, October 10, 1815.

JOHN ABBOTT, my ggggrandfather also served in the American Revolution. He enlisted in the Second South Carolina Regiment, under Lt. Francis Marion (The Swamp Fox), on November 11, 1776, at the age of 14 years.

After the close of the American Revolution, John, along with his brother, William, moved to Pendleton District and located on Bear Swamp Creek, South of Walhalla, South Carolina. Their father William Abbott, had passed away, so their mother, Sarah Dennard Abbott, joined with them in their move.
