Looking for anything about my ancestor Dr Clarke Abel who was supposed to have had an independent practice in Brighton from about 1808 onwards. Dr Abel was Physician to Lord Armherst, Ambassador to China & Botanist on Lord McCartney's mission to China 1815. Later personal Physician to Gov. General of India. Clarke was born in Bungay, Suffolk and lived in Halesworth, Suffolk before going to China. He died in India. He was married to Martha Poole in Mendham, Suffolk. Does anyone know of any sources of information which would help finding him in Brighton?
