Story:My Abel ancestors were said to be a group of Jewish(brothers?cousins?, who came from the area of Russia/Prussia. They came during the American Revolutionary War and were told they would receive land in Virginia when the war was over. They had experience as sailors. When the war was over they stayed in America and married Gentile wives since there wasn't a large Jewish population at that time. One was later hung as a horse thief. They eventually migrated inland and some settled in southern Indiana. My Great-grandparents are Andrew Jackson Abel/ Emma Giles(Orange County-Indiana).Does anyone else share this same story or have helpful info.? Thanks!
