Well Mollie is in Calif and I dont no when she will be at home. Her baby name is Verly Rosevelt and am glad to heare that Emma is out of her trouble. You tell her to call it after its granpa Joseph. Well Rachel I want you and Will to come and bring all the children with you. You can come in a wagon so you can go over and see Jennie. WellRachel you make my dress before you come. Reference in letter to Emma and Grandpa Joseph. Emma is Rachel's daughter Emma Strouth Vanover whose first child had been born October 1, 1910.
Notes for George William Strouth:
George William Strouth had moved his family sometime around 1898 from Carters Valley in Tennesse to Dickenson County, Virginia. They lived in Wolf Pen which is a hollow off the left as you travel Rt. 72 toward Clintwood from Coeburn just pass Darwin. Mattie Stanley related to her granddaughter that she could remember the Strouth children walking over the mountain to school. Greg Vanover remembers his Grandmother Emma Strouth Vanover tell about living there. She said they sharecropped in Wolf Pen prior to moving to Birchfield.
George William Strouth was a blacksmith, cobbler, farmer and general store owner.
