His wife was buried in San Diego about 1900.Refers in a letter to his grandmother who had a remarkable memory, but died while he was too young to remember much family history. His father was a man of few words. His mother was left an orphan when an infant and raised by Mr. Fuller of St. Albans, Vt. She died in 1831.He removed to San Diego, CA in 1882 and followed farming successfully, residing also at Escondido and other points and a fewyears with a granddaughter at Oregon City, OR; returned to San Diego about 1909. He kept up an active correspondence with many members and friends of the Abell families until a few months before his death.Children: Ulysses Grant, and 8 others, but two or three survived in 1909, the youngest dying in infancy.
