You're right, I have no interest in misleading anybody.I'm not an old lady in some kind of weird royal descent club trying to look aristocratic.My interest is purely "I'm interested."But what I am not interested in is fighting over something like this.Two texts and a signed letter from the College of Arms is sufficient for me.

Per Mr. Dickinson, three pedigrees were registered with the College of Arms in the 1930s showing multiple lines of descent from Robert Abell.I'm not super concerned about royal lineage (since mathematically it would be far more interesting thing to *not* have royal descent than to have it), but in that regard and for that purpose, the determinations of the College of Arms are considered definitive since that's essentially their entire purpose for existence.
