Good for you Melissa--- as more and more authentic New England history emerges so shall the descendents of the Abenakis of the area.My impression by just my own contact with my "State of Maine" roots and present day relatives-- albiet cousins, several times removed- is that a lot of these ancestors and their descendents-- such as me and you- have some Abenaki heritage, some more than others.
My family names that I am most intimate with at this time---are "Small", "Wood" (Irish and French), and "Wing". Alot more here, than I ever thought.
I am totally enjoying going through your postings. By the way, I have given some stuff --- including a copy of the deed between Chief Sandy and Francis Small- to Nancy. I told her that I would like for you to have my email and home address (north-east Connecticut) for more detailed discussions.
