I'm on the process researching the relatives of my gg grandfather John A. Abercrombie came to the US around 1853-1856 and settled in Lawrence, MA.Durning the Civil War, he was with the Massachusetts 50th Regiment Infantry. Of which I have some letters relating to his experience.
He had a brother Henry with his wife Margaret Waldie moved to Gaylord, Kansas. Where they had several children Henry, John, William R., and Margaret.His brother, John with a last name Crombie settled in Philidelphia, and yet one went to Baltimore Thomas and Margaret Cragg.Another letter mentions a brother that went to New Zealand (William).His for a sister, he there was Jane who also lived in Philidelphia. The oldest brother(Andrew) stayed in Scotland in Glasgow.
John A. was married to Sarah Ogden at Manchester Catherdral on July 9, 1849.Their children where Mary, Sarah Ellen, John Henry, and Sarah.His daughter Mary stayed in Manchester, England with her grandparents.He married a second time and had several more children Allan, Ralph, Florance, and John (ggrandfather).John (b 1861 d 1934 Lawrence, MA) married Mary Davenport.Their children where Bertha, Ralph (grandfather), Lillie, Florence, John, Laurence (Capt. US Drayton WWII), and Ada.
