“Below is my transcription of the 1784 Baltimore County MD will of Robert Abercrombie from a photocopy of the original at the Maryland Archives.My interpretation of some of the unconventional spellings is in .If you would like a copy of the original or other records concerning this Robert you can write to Maryland State Archives, 350 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis, MD 21401. “BALTIMORE COUNTY REGISTER OF WILLS, Volume #3, p. 588 Robert Abercrombie, dated 22 Feb 1784, proved 22 May 1784 [MSA No. 2-28-12-3]
In the name of God Amen I Robert Abercrombie of said County being weak in Body but of sound mind and memory God be praised for the same, but calling to mind the uncertainty of life in this world have made this my last will and Testament.
1st – I recommend my soul to God that gave it
2nd ly – my Body to be buried in Christian form
3rd ly – that all my just debts and funeral charges should be paid
4th ly – of all my Wirdly [worldly] Goods I give and bequeath as Followeth
Item – I give and bequeath to my good and Loving Wife Salathial Abercrombie one half of my tract of land called Johns habitation whereon my dwelling stands divided length ways of the said land parlel [parallel] during her life and after her death to fall to my son John Abercrombie to him his heirs and assigns for ever.
Also I give to my wife Salathial Abercrombie three Negroes Peter, Rachel & Jacob and her chawes [choice] of the feather beads [beds] and fimeture [furniture] as a legacy
Item – I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Abercrombie two Negroes Kizia & Dol & the best feather bead and fimeture as a legacy
Item – I give and bequeath to my son Robert Abercrombie the other half of my Land called John habitation to him his Heirs and assigns for ever and one Negro Girl named Miner as a legacy
Item – I give and bequeath to my son John Abercrombie one Negro boy named Gabriel as a legacy
Item – I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Abercrombie one Negro Garl [girl] called Tamer and one feather bead and fimeture as a legacy
Item – I give and bequeath to my son Charles Abercrombie two Negroes named Sharlot & James as a legacy
Item – I give and bequeath to my wife Salathial Abercrombie one third of all the remainder of my Estate.All the remainder of my Estate I give and bequeath to my children Mary, Robert, John, Elizabeth & Charles Abercrombie equally
Lastly I constitute and appoint my Good and Loving Wife Salathial Abercrombie my hole and sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament.

Baltimore County to Wit:
On the 22nd day of May 1784 came Abraham Stansbury, John Hatton and Chancy Hatton Subscribing Evidence to the aforegoing last Will and Testament of Robert Abercrombie late of said County deceased, and made Oath etc. that they did see the Testator sign and seal this Will that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will & Testament at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound disposing mind memory & understanding and that they subscribed their names as Witnesses to this Will in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other.
Sworn before me Register of Wills for Balt. County William Buchanan”
