Were the South Carolina Abercrombies British loyalist in the Rev. War & the War of 1812?
I just reviewed the "Index To Compiled Records of Volunteer Soldiers Who Served During The War Of 1812 In Organizations From The State Of South Carolina". Microfilm IDM652, Record Group 9F, from the National Archives.
I found not one Abercrombie in any unit. I find this very odd.
The Abercrombies I've known for well over 65 years certainly are not and were not afraid to fight. The Abercrombie's records in the War of Northern Aggression and every war since will attest to their more than eagerness to serve.
Either there are more SC soldier recorda of the War of 1812 that I have not found, or the only other reason I can think of is, they opposed the war and did not volunteer to fight the British.
