Thanks for the information on the Abercrombies.I was trying to put together some information for my children on the Abercrombies and started gathering what ever information I could find. One of the Abercrombie decentents here in Al. had hired a genealogist back in the early 70s to research our line of Abercrombies and the genealogist identified our line as Sir James Abercrombie - Sir James Abercrombie (Attorney General)- James Abercrombie of Laurens, S.C.
The Genealogist gave the source for the Attorney Gen. as "Abercrombie Family" by Lelia Abercrombie, pg. 5.
I have also gotten a copy of Karen L Robert's "Abercrombies of the Souther States 1765 - 1900" Vol. 1 & 2. In chapter 1 of Vol. 1 she documents in great detail the point that the attorney general did not have children and her research on other James Abercrombies.
However, I did not find a reference to the work by Lelia Abercrombie so I don't know if it is a valid source that she has not checked yet that may offer proof that the attorney general did have a child.
I am now in way over my head!! But wanted to know if you are familiar with the book by Lelia Abercrobie and know if it is a good or bad source.
Thanks for your help, if you want a copy of the genealogist work I will be glad to send you a copy.
