This is not my direct line and I have not personally researched it.What info I have comes from Arvord Abernethy's books, The Abernethy Family, 1994 and 2000 editions. There is conflicting info and I do not know which is right.Much of what Arvord included was from other individuals and since he has passed away we probably can not find out who the contributors where.I will include below what he has in case you do not have it. I Insert my comments with a JEA after them.
p 59 1994 and p 25 2000 Smith Abernethy b. 1760 m. Rebecca Fowler (which is wrong, elsewhere wife is not given are is given as unknown -JEA)
Son Wm. Smith Abernethy, b. 1803, d. circa 1865
I am not sure if he was Wm. Smith or just Smith.Likewise I am not sure of the death date. JEA
He also lists Smith with son John Clayton Abernethy and I am not sure if he was that or just Clayton.JEA
p 41 2000Smith Abernethy b 1803 m. Rebecca Fowler
p 75 1994 Smith Abernethy b. ca 1760 Brunswick
Son Smith Abernethy b ca 1803 d. 1860s m. Rebecca Fowler.
p 77 1994Smith Abernethy ca 1760, wife's name unknown
Son Smith Abernethy ca 1803, NC m. Rebecca Fowler (note he shows this son Smith with a son John Clayton Abernethy b. ca 1832.Whether he is confusing this John Clayton with the son John? Clayton of Smith b 1760 I do not know.JEA
On page 59 of the 1994 and 25 of the 2000 version is a list of Smith Abernethy's (ca 1760)children which conflicts with the list of children given for him on p 75 of 2000.
The latter is closer to the info you provided but it has a couple of differences.JEA
I was hoping that you are someone else could resolve the conflicts contained in Arvord's books.Even though not my direct line I would like to have it as accurate as possible.
Again, any help you can provide would be appreciated.Thanks. John
