Your information seems to make better sense than mine. My Abernathy info comes from several sources mainly from this forum - including Brian Abernathy's web page. I also went to Pulaski, TN in May 2000 & copied a lot of data from the Abernathy files at the Giles Co Historical Society room in the library. Since I entered that data I have filed away the notes. I like your dates a LOT better. Can you tell me where your information comes from? It would really be nice to get a lot of this fuzzy data nailed down & document it once & for all!
For now, though: I have 2 Smith Abernathys in my data. The first, b c 1755 in Granville, NC d aft 1850 in MS? m Ruth ? in NC. He was a son of Robert A Abernathy (IV) b Mar 27 1719 in Prince George Co VA d 1792 in Lincoln Co NC m in Prince George Co VA in 1740 to Sarah Nichols b ca 1720. This Smith was one of 12 children.
The other Smith Abernathy b 1760 in Brunswick Co VA d 1868 in Carroll Co TN m in near Raleigh, Wake Co, NC in 1820 to Rebecca Fowler b Nov 10 1801. He was the son of John B Abernathy b May 21 1723 Prince George Co VA d Feb 17 1812 Brunswick Co VA m 1744 to Lucy Harwell. Their son Smith was also one of 12 children.
Both Robert A Abernathy (IV) & John B Abernathy were sons of Robert A Abernathy (III)(1695 Charles City VA - Dec 1792 Tryn Co [later Lincoln Co], NC). My internal notes in the data show most all this information came from Brian Abernathy's web page.
I will do some more checking of my sources and get back to you.
