I, too, find myself interested in the family although I am probably not related to them.I was in Lunenburg Courthouse recently and noticed them.I have about concluded that David Abernathy (17??-c. 1790) and Charles Abernathy (17??-c. 1796)--unrelated although both of Dinwiddie County--were new Scots immigrants.David of Lunenburg (17??-1814?) was young enough to have been the son of David (17??-c. 1790), whose son, Liles Abernathy (17??-1814), died in Mecklenburg about the same time.David's son, Jesse (17??-1777), died prematurely in Brunswick, and I note there is also a Jesse in the family of David of Lunenburg (for that matter Liles also had a son, Jesse (17??-1807), and there is a Jesse (1778-1851) in Charles's family also).Blackstone is a town in Lunenburg.Whether the man was named for the town or the town for the man, I have no idea.Anyone have further thoughts?
