I had been meaning to reply to your message for well over a week but was distracted by some rather critical and tedious research I was in the midst of, for which I apologize.
If I had responded with everything I have on Julian's ancestral line all the way back to the 1st Robert, the administrators of this Forum might have booted me off for posting too huge of a message.
However, I believe I certainly gave you plenty to get going on. I suggest that you be very careful with the Robert Abernathys: it is all too easy to get them confused as heck! By 1790 there were 24 Abernathy heads of household in Lincoln Co., NC. 5 were named James and 4 were named Robert. 2 of the 3 named David are known to have had a son named Robert, and all 4 of the ones named Robert also had a son named Robert. I am unsure as yet about all the offspring of those 5 James Abernathys on the 1790 census, but there were certainly more than enough Roberts living in the same area to confuse the unwary viewing the situation from 200+ yrs distance!
