The original Alfred Harris was educated at the University of Nashville but not, so far as I know, in medicine. The Alfred Harris who graduated from Vanderbilt was Charles Clayton's grandson--the son of Gilbert Taylor.
Hope this helps.Someday I will work the obuituaries for some of the missing dates, but not right now.
These birth and death dates derive mainly from a document created by McCallum Aymett although Ada Elizabeth and McCallum's sister, Ada, may have been involved. My copy is from an original in the possession of Ada Abernathy Aymett Puckett--Charles Clayton's great-grandaughter, I suppose, if I have counted the generations right.
Hope this helps.
Now, let's get serious about your ancestry. When do you think Alice married George Williams and why was she listed as Alice Abernathy when she married Lewis Kelly in 1795 or 1796?Any ideas?Incidentally, Charles Clayton attests to both these facts in his memento--Jason Hopkins' wife was his niece and Alice married Lewis Kelly whenever she did--I am simply to tired to dig the date out of Brunswick marriages tonight. It seems to me this has become one of the great unsolved mysteries about the family.
