Howard, I don't believe that this Robert was married twice. I am not even sure that Rosy Huskin(s) was named Elizabeth, since the only source I have that cites her as such also has a conflicting and inadequatly detailed list of children that is nowhere close to matching the list of children in the will of the Robert Abernathy who lived in 1860 and 1870 in the Mountain Creek area and is buried in nearby Hopewell Cemetery alongside [Elizabeth] Betty J. bernathy (nee Asbury).
I think that it is highly possible that what we have here is two different families to confuse us.
What is certain is that Rozella Abernathy did not mention either of the two daughters who lived with and cared for their father after the death of Elizabeth J. (Asbury) Abernathy in 1859. Possibly because she was concerned with the Abernathys of Gaston and lower Lincoln Counties, and the Mountain Creek area is/was in Catawba County and north or the area where the Abernathys she wrote about lived.
Unfortunately, it seems that they got missed on the 1850 census.
