Messages #1943 and #1944 on this forum were not written by you, Otis, although it is true that they did relate to a Joseph Abernathy.
I have read ALL of your messages in this Forum, Otis. I have even read (but maybe not responded to) your many messages on another popular genealogy website.
I still do not think you have accumulated enough evidence to construct your lineage beyond the David who married Jane. Indeed, if you insist on claiming the David Abernathy found on the 1830 and the 1840 census in Shelby County AL, you have a lot of unnamed and unaccounted for children (six of 'em, to be exact) to track down yet.
If you also insist on claiming the David Abernathy found on the 1820 Giles County TN census, you have 4 more unknown children to locate. And of the 4 on that year's census, only one shows up as a tally in an appropriate age brackets for the David found 1830 and 1840 in Shelby County, AL, and you have yet to offer a name for her.
Furthermore, I think you might need to demonstrate that the David found in 1820 in Giles County TN is NOT the same as the Daniel/David Abernathy who just happenes to be found on the 1830, 1840, 1850, 1860, and 1870 Giles County TN census records. And you need to demonstrate that the David found on that 1820 census is emphatically related to the Joseph also found on that same census, since you appear bent and determined upon claiming him, too. They are, after all, in the exact same age categories, so you would need to explain HOW they are related, as well as provide evidence to support your assertation. I can't even do that yet, despite having identified all of the Abernathys in Giles County on that 1820 census EXCEPT those two.
At the moment, I have no idea when that Daniel/David Abernathy (b. 1792, d. 1874) married Catherine Stone. A marriage date would greatly help determine if he could have had 4 children by 1810, which is by no means yet demonstrated. Nor am I at all sure that I have identified all the children of David/Daniel and Catherine Abernathy, of Giles County TN. I certainly can't yet name/identify all the children for the David Abernathy found 1830 and 1840 in Shelby Count, AL. And I don't think you can, either.
I believe you still have a lot of work to do, son.
