I don't know as much as I would like to, Jill. I cannot find record of their marriage in Lincoln County NC, but believe they remained there after their marriage until sometime between 1840 and 1850, at which time them moved to Fayette County, TN, directly across the state line from Marshall County MS. If I've correctly identified them on the 1840 Lincoln County NC census, I have 4 unidentified sons and 3 unidentified daughters for the couple, plus the two known daughters who were born in TN. I believe the youngest daughter (Fanny) was born in Fayette County TN abt 1851 and married there in 1874, so it's possible that Joseph and Ann (Rankin) Abernathy may not have moved to Marshall County until after then. Joseph's younger brother (David or Daniel Addison Abernathy) and his family had migrated to Marshall County MS about the same time Joseph and Ann moved to TN, and his children (some of them, at least) did not move westward into TX until around 1880. David/Daniel and wife were still in Early Grove MS on the 1880 census, but he is reported to be buried in McKinney, Collin County, TX. I have no knowledge of the death date or burial location of Frances Jane (Franklin) Abernathy.
