An 1818 deed in which Richard Rockett gives his daughter Sarah Abernathy a slave proves Sarah Rockett Abernathy's connection to Richard Rockett. Proof that she was the daughter of Richard's first wife Eleanor Abernathy comes from her approximate date of birth, which is the year after Richard and Eleanor married. I will send the reference for this deed, if you are interested.
I am very interested in any proof that Eleanor Abernathy Rockett was the daughter of James Abernathy and Elizabeth Cox. While by close association this certainly seems plausible, thus far I have not managed to find any documentation whatsoever that the three Rockett siblings (John, Sarah, Richard) married three Abernathy siblings who were children of James and Elizabeth Cox Abernathy. Proof of these connections would be very useful to both Rockett and Abernathy researchers.
Also - I would like proof of the parents of Mary Abernathy who married Richard Rockett (Sr.) in 1763, Granville County NC. Permission for the marriage was given by Robert Abernathy, who I suppose we can presume was Mary's father. Other evidence suggests that the Rocketts and Abernathys moved on to Tryon County NC by the mid-1760s.
Which Robert Abernathy was Mary's father? There were several - I believe three of them - in Tryon/Lincoln County NC between 1765 and 1790. I cannot determine which one was Mary's father.
