Did this Mr. Davis have a large estate of any kind, maybe? My grandmother said that she had been given "a tour of the banana plantation", I don't know how old she was at the time, but she was born in 1917. Sally would have been her aunt, Odell her cousin. Maybe she was young when she took this tour? I know my father's family grew up dirt poor and so maybe any nice house and grounds might have been considered a plantation to her. When she told me about it I was thinking the stereotypical big old southern plantations. At the time (I was about 14) I was thinking, yipee! I've got some millionaires in the family$$$$$$$!=> For the record, the first time my grandmother gave me her information, she didn't remember the first name of the man who Sally married. When I showed it to her later, she added the "Marion", but mind you, she was about 65 at the time and was able to rattle off a list of over 125 family members including a number of birthdays. She had a pretty good memory, but it doesn't surprise me that she might have gotten things a little messed up. Looking at my tree, it seems she lost contact with her parent's family. She was able to give the names of her aunts and uncles and their spouses, but didn't seem to know (or remember?) any of their children. Also, she supplied this information to me (for a Jr. High project). I'm now 40, still have the weathered and stained posterboard project and just some of the memories of what she told me-this was the only time she ever really talked about family history other than herself and her sibling and all the family from that point.
If this be the same family, Lillie was a popular name in the family. In addition to a daughter and a sister, she also had, at least, a niece and a grandniece (if that's what you call it). Although I am still working on my grandmother's tree, what I have so far is here:
After I got it set up, I wasn't really happy with this format, and I may change it later. I like a tree that shows all branches, not just direct lines. Getting to the side branches can be done, but just takes a bit of playing with on this site.
Anyway, sorry for rambling on like this. I just recently started this project and you seem to be the closest I've come to fitting the pieces together. It might be a bit premature, but, welcome to the family!
