There are on-line database entries on both RootsWeb and ancestry.com for Forney Abern?thy and parents, but not all have his spouse.
And you might try to contact Sharyn Young on AOL and ask her what her source is for attaching Forney to parents: I believe she may have been the first to have that connection and at all events she's uploaded data in 2005 that shows Forney Luther Abernathy as a son of Marcus William Abernathy & Catherine Lucinda Cloninger.
Or you could look on the 1900 Gaston County Census, Mount Holly, Microfilm Roll T623_1196, p. 23a, Enumeration District 81, and hope and pray that your eyes are a heck of a lot better than mine! The microfilm image is _terrible_ and I can't read occupations at all on that one.
But ancestry.com is reporting the following family at that location:
Margaret Abernethy 43 abt 1857 Head Lucinda C Abernethy 42 abt 1858 Wife Ada Abernethy 22 abt 1878 Daughter Louisa Abernethy 16abt 1884 Daughter Leather F Abernethy 18 abt 1885 Son Ed Stillwell 28abt 1872 Nephew
I believe that "Margaret Abernethy" is really Marcus and that "Leather F Abernethy" is Luther F aka Forney Luther, and I can substantiate Marcus on the 1880 census, aged 23, with wife Lucinda and 2 yr old daughter Ada. The ages of Marcus and Ada track. I won't say Lucinda's ages track, but some gals ages never track from one census decade to the next.
