Not all military prisoners, Jill, just the surviving Scots from the 1650 Battle of Dunbar and the death march that followed. And only for a short time before they were shipped overseas.

Probably of more relevance is the 1651 Battle of Worcester
If our Robert was in a Scots military unit (as yet unproven), that is the Battle he may have been captured from.
