The Smith Abernathy who married Rebecca Fowler moved to west Tennessee before 1830. I have descents on 8 of their dozen children.
The Smith Abernathy whose 2nd wife was Elizabeth Mrs Martin (nee Young) died in Wake County abt 1845. There is a lot of legal info concerning his estate and the children from his 2 marriages in Wake County's vital records. Also check Brunswick County Will book 8, p. 79, where he is cited along with brothers John, Frederick, Charles, Robert, Joshua, Buckner but not Herbert, in his Father's will. Translation, documents section, my website http://www.wa4kdc.net/http://www.wa4kdc.net/ dated 17 Feb 1812. And if you visit my website's census tab, you'll find that there are a lot of extracted households with an asterisk prior to a name. This means that this person and usually the entire household is in my master database. Alas that I do not have complete census records, but ancestry.com has made many so-called improvements in the past 15-20 years, almost all of which have been anything BUT, greatly reducing my ability to catalog all the Abernathys (and the over 200 mis-transcriptions in their index) from the census pages. After all, there is only so much that can be accomplished in a short time, & website is only 6 yrs old, y'know?
