I have not seen the Whitner name Only White and I am Interested in Thomas and Isaac Rev War vets.People have claimed ( Have not seen solid proof) that Thomas was the father of Joseph White. Isaac martin Sued Joseph White and Im trying to get to the bottom of that Issue.
All our men that dont match surname do have a male line European ancestor however many white men married Indian. We have some record of this. In general, General Joseph Martin said to have a few wives one we do know being Cherokee. There were a lot of European men that did this so Im not concerned with what the haplogroup is at the moment only that people arent matching their surnames and not matching to any surname that has ties to our actual family. Meaning the out of wedlocks may go back further than we think. Many our martins known to be born out of Wedlock and DNA proving more than we knew about. 1750's there were not many Europeans in Rowan (All of Western NC). The Cherokee did not cede their lands until the 1770's when Rowan started getting cut up into counties. Early men in Rowan were frontiersman like Daniel Boone and the early Ellis family in Rowan were Indian Traders. Im sure a lot of them did not bring women with them entering the frontier. We have Indian Traders in VA that were also licensed to trade in NC and SC pre Rev War. Daniel Boone has Close ties to Benj Clevealnd who had ties to General Jospeh Martin. The Boones and Clevelands in Rowan/Surry/Wilkes and not far from us in Burke. Many of us from Burke also have family lines in Wilkes
