Here is a web site that has Robert Abernathy's, 3rd generation in America, 1772 will abstract. There is another abstract like this one - I haven't re found it yet - that copied the actual signatures to the abstract and also identified one of the heirs with a "D".David
This is the site for US Gen Web, Lincoln County, NC. Jill Huter certified genealogist. James Abernathy is not listed as a witness but as Jurat.
I'm taking your microfilm # of Birdie Abernathy Jamison to my local library and have them order that microfilm. I definitely want to see that. Thank you.
I read your messages about Robert Abernathy's - Sarah Cubisha - possible fathers in Scotland. I am also very interested in finding Robert's Scottish family but I have not found much lately.
So if Robert Abernathy 4 in America and wife Sarah Abernathy ( this Sarah Abernathy from Scotland ) have a son Robert 5 who is obviously named after his father then James could be named after Sarah's father who might be a James Abernathy who was still in Scotland at the time 1743. And possibly fairly close relationship. I have no proof that Sarah is from Scotland.
