In the Mormon library at Salt Lake there is an old book on the original families of Connecticutt. I copied the Abernethys. In it they said William was a Puritan and landed in a small town near what is now New Haven. Subsequently, the Abernethys settled around Middlebury and Litchfield. Unfortunately when I moved to my present home, I packed away those copies in a box, many of which remain unpacked, those copies being in one those unpacked copies. However, I have been meaning to follow up on searching for that book in Connecticutt. I am pretty sure it was before 1685, because I remember it was a long time before Valentine Hollingworth landed in Delaware, another ancestor.(My mother was a Hollingsworth). I find it interesting that there has been very little published about the Connecticutt, Vermont, Oregon Abernethys even though they were in Oregon by the 1830s.Somewhere I read that the first Abernethys in America were two brothers that came as indentured servants to Jamestown, I believe in 1605.Again, I think that information came from Salt Lake from a list of person in that first community. What do you know in that regard? I just started getting interested in this again.
