You might try re-posting on the Adoptions forum. They find living people, sometimes.
The SSDI, http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgihttp://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi has seven Edward Abners who died between 1968 and 2000. One of them had an SSN issued in Ohio. Another died in Ohio. Do you know, from your birth certificate, how old your father was when you were born? If so, you could eliminate some or all of these men.
Finally, there is a Piqua in Miami County and one in Clark County. You mught try posting a query on the appropriate county-level page here on GenForum and on Ancestry http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=an&p=http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=an&p=
If you do, put something meaningful in your heading, like "Ed Abner, b. 1943, Piqua"
