Taken from ANCESTRAL ROOTS - 8th Edition, by Frederick Lewis Weiss, p. 86 (which is considered by many to be one of the best researched books connecting American colonials to English royal lines of descent):
1) George Abney (no birth date), d. 1 Mar 1578 and buried Willesley, Derbyshire, England; m. Bathusa. She married Rev. Joseph Lee as 2nd husband; her will dated 2 Jan 1706; 5) Dannett Abney, bapt. 26 Feb 1660 in Leicester, England; his will probated 5 Mar 1733 in Spotsylvania Co., Virginia. He married as second wife abt. 1702 Mary Lee, daughter of Rev. Joseph Lee (above) by his 1st wife.
I, too, list a John Abney as father to George but have not yet been able to confirm it.There seems to be some disagreement about whether Dannett Abney had a daughter named Mary, so I have not included her in my list of his children.
I highly recommend the Weiss book as an excellent resource, especially ancestors pre-George Abney.I also recommend an Abney H. Brewer's book, The Legacy of Samuel Abney, Senior as a source for information about Dannett Abney and some of his descendants.
