Hi Bettye, yes I read the article and have been in contact with a couple of the people mentioned. One lady has been researching for over 20 yrs. and she took over from another lady that had been researching for another 20 yrs. before that, with no visible proof. That is one of the reasons, I have started looking elsewhere for Charity's parents.I'm sure someone out there has the answers and doesn't even know that the rest of us are looking for the info.there has been rumors over the years, that there might be Native American blood in the family, so I'm going to go that route for now.I just finished reading a book on the force migrations of the Cherokee Nation, and how many of them escaped and lived as whites from then on. Also found a Absalom Dean from GA. that was a "Tory" and fought for the British. What if the parent of my Absalom Dean was that Dean, did the rest ofhis family, fight for freedom. Was he disowned by his family? Would the Abneys have disowned a daughter that married into a "Traitor" family so to speak.I'm from the deep-south and know how deep-rooted southern people can be about that sort of thing. One thing about Southern people they are sure proud of being American, and it sure wouldn't have sat good with them for a "traitor" to come in and take one of their daughters.
