Seeking information on W. P. & Catherine (SAUNDERS) ABNEY.Catherine SAUNDERS (1836 LA - 1882), “wife of W. P. ABNEY,” is buried at the Pine Grove Cemetery in (formerly Brownville, Lee Co, AL, now) Phenix City, Russell Co, AL, in the same lot with Emma (SUMMERSGILL) ABNEY (1862-1911), wife of John T. ABNEY (b. ca. 1861), whom she m. 1878 in Brownville, Lee Co, AL.It is not known if he is buried at Pine Grove in an unmarked grave or not.Catherine is recorded as “Cynthia ABNER,” aged 40,residing as a widow in the household of John & Emma on p. 224C of the 1880 census of Brownville, AL. Also buried in the same lot are John & Emma's children Mary (1880-1884) and Albert C. (1882-1914).A note in a published transcription of cemetery records states that Albert ABNEY, son of John T., died at the state hospital at Milledgeville [Baldwin Co.], GA.
Note that Emma's brother William Henry SUMMERSGILL (1856-1904) is also buried at Pine Grove. He m. Mary J. "Mollie" DAVIDSON (1859-1939).She is perhaps a niece of John DAVIDSON (ca. 1822-1918), who m. Martha Elizabeth ABNEY (b. ca. 1835), eldest child of Absolom P. & Rosannah (HALL) ABNEY.I have not found any record that Absolom and Rosannah had a son with a name beginning with "W." or "P."Does anyone know the kinship?Any information appreciated, and I will be glad to share what I have in my files.
