You should browse the following www.Familytreedna.comthe host company www.familytreedna.com/public/abrams/our project www.freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~crow2000/crowdna.htmanother family I am related to , with 120 members in their group!
We have seven members in the Abram/s group so far altho only 3 have their results published.I think I am the first one on the list.
Simply put, 12 markers from one Abrams male are tested against the same 12 markers from other male Abrams. If 12 out of 12 match or at least 11/12 then you very likely have a common ancestor in the last 2 or 3 hundred years. If there is no similarity (usually 10 matches or less) then you are not related and your surnames are coincidental. The test is quick, easy and painless (cotton swab in the mouth).
Abrams and Abram ( and Abraham etc) being Biblical, seems to have arose in many separate unrelated locales. Many times in the UK but also in Holland, Russia, Germany, eastern Europe.
My own line is probably British, perhaps Welsh or Cornish.
25 and 37 marker tests are also available.
We would love to haveyou on board. We would need to have the sample from a brother, your father, male cousin or uncle etc.
