My grandfather, Harry, who came to the USA at age 21 from Bucharest, in 1899, was born in a small town outside of Bucharest, called Nomslasa (according to his petition for naturalization). His family was in the retail dry goods business in Romania(aka silks, textiles, etc.)and he was in this business after marrying my grandmother, Minnie Haber.THey had a store on the lower east side of New York.
His distant relative, according to family tales, was Magda Lupescu...Just in case this rings a bell with family lore).
I remember meeting his younger brother, my great uncle Jack over 40 years ago in Florida. Both Harry and his brothers were dandys, quite goodlooking. He had a lot of brothers and sisters who I do not remember. He changed his name to Abrams.
