I only 'met' William two nights ago!I hope he's wasn't the one wanted for rape!He would have been 64 years old in 1897, but who knows? Census records indicate that his father was born in Kentucky, and his mother probably in Ohio - possibly in Kentucky.William always claimed Indiana as his birthplace. In 1850, as I stated, William was in Pike, Indiana - living with a farmer. Also in Pike was a James Abrams, 15, living with a different farmer. There is one Abrams family in Pike, headed by Joseph, 56, born Pennsylvania and Rebecca, 50, born Ohio. I checked the 1840 Census.Joseph was then living in Monroe County, Indiana. However, in Pike at that time was a John Abrams who had 2 males under 5; l male, 1 female 5-10; 1 male, 1 female 10-15; 1 female 15-20 and he was between 30 and 40.His (presumed)wife was also between 30 and 40. Well, in 1850, John Abrams, age 44 and Margaret Abrams, age 44, both born in Kentucky were living in Beech Creek Township - there seems to be quite a few Abrams' in this town that were originally from Kentucky. If I had to guess, I would say that John is probably the father of William. But I really don't know - and I have no expertise with the 'Southern' Abrams.Mine have lived in New York for 300 years. Just to completely throw you off, there is another William J. Abrams, about six years older than yours, born in Kentucky, who is living in Monroe County, Indiana in 1850 with his wife and children. For a variety of reasons, I do not believe he is the one who was in the Civil War, or went to Prison, or married your Rolston, but it is a possibility and I wanted to let you know about him.
