Henry Abrams of Turkeyfoot, PA lived to be 108 (1720-1828).He had a family of 6 to 9 children, depending upon the source. One of the uncertain children was Thomas (1751-1820s, and my gggg gf) who was thought to be his son based upon a) his age, b) his known Turkeyfoot residence c) the considerable overlap of names with Henry's family d) the belief he married Jemima Friend, the sister of Henry Junior's wife, Sarah Friend
Recently a desc of Henry Sr, through son Gabriel, tested his DNA and was compared to several known desc of Thomas. The match was negative, thus concluding that Thomas was probably not the natural son of Henry Sr.The desc of Henry Sr has a strong paper trail linking him directly. By contrast, there are no known legal documents linking Thomas to Henry Sr.
There are over 20 databases on Ancestry.com, connecting Thomas to Henry Sr.They are probably wrong. As a desc of Thomas, I was very disappointed but have accepted that our "line" goes back to 1751, which is still pretty good.
This conclusion is based upon a single test from a Henry Sr. desc.We certainly would like another desc of Henry Sr to come forward and test, so we can confirm or refute the above conclusion. The other documented sons of Henry include Reuben, Basil and Henry Jr.When such a test is concluded, I will post the results.
If you are a male desc of Henry, we want you!!! See my other messages on how to join the DNA project or contact me.
Other Abrams from this group or any unrelated group are also encouraged to sign up.There are over 20 Abrams in the DNA project now, representing about a dozen lines from various states and countries (Ireland, England, Wales, Holland, eastern Europe etc).
