Thank you for the obituary of Nancy Jane Abrams. So much in it brought back some information that I had forgotten.
Daddy and his three sisters were orphaned at an early age.His father, William Congrave Abrams, died in Oklahoma, we think, and his mother took them back to Mendon, Mo, where she died when Daddy was 12.The children lived with their Aunt Emma Mizner until the oldest daughter Flossie returned to Oklahoma and married. When Daddy was about 18 he came to Oklahoma, lived with Flossie and worked in the oil fields. He was drafted into the army in WWI and served on the east coast. His two other sisters, Laura and Lura, moved to Oklahoma and they both were married here.
The name Bearden is familiar as Daddy had a cousin that lived in a town near where we were raised and came to visit us occasionally.I didn't ask the exact relationship at the time but he must have been a first cousin. He also had a cousin, Bernie Abrams, that lived in McCloud, OK.We didn't travel much in those days so our contact with these people was limited.
Bernie must have been the son of Thomas Abrams.
Daddy didn't talk about his family but we were close to his sister Lura. She lived with us for a while.Mother was from Brunswick, Mo, and they were married in Carrolton.
This wonderful to be able to put this all together and find out we do have roots.
