Re: Origin of the ABSTON Surname in U.S.

Our family has always held that we were of German descent.My grandson was doing family searches 2 years ago at the Mormon archives in Salt Lake City and found several references to Abston, which seemed to pertain to our family here in Kentucky.Those records seemed to indicate that the name was originally German--"Abstein" or "Absteen"--and that the name "Abston" is just the Americanization of that original spelling.
