Thanks for the information.I will try to give you my thoughts on the connection between Acord (Achord), Raines, and Sexton families.
On the 1850 Hardeman Co TN census, p. 126, household #531, is a William Peck, 60, NC, with an Elizabeth, 23.Susand (sic), 36, NC, is listed right beneath William but it does not specify that she is his wife. However on the 1860 Hardeman Co TN census, p. 196A, household #650, is Susan Peck, 50, NC.In her home are the same children (except Thomas) who were there in 1850 but no William.Elizabeth is now listed as Elizabeth Raines with children, John, 7, and Susan, 3.By 1870, Elizabeth is in the home of E. Acord (sic), 45, as L.J., keeping house.I think this is Elizabeth because the last two children listed are J. F., 14 (should be 17) and Susan, 13.This census taken must have been very inept since he put a household number by Susan's name at age 13. In order to make this jump to the real facts from the census records you have to have more information.
I took the following information from TENNESSEE MARRIAGES in the Tennessee State Archives: Thomas Raines m. ElizabethPeck 10-29-1851 (10-30-1851) by Jno. Drake J. P. Hardiman Co TN, p. 206 Enoch Acord m. Elizabeth J. Raines 1-10-1867 (1-11-1867) by W. R. Howell J. P. Hardeman Co TN Bk 3, p. 206 G. A. Sexton m. M. C. Acord 11-16-1867 by B. F. Ussery, J. P. Hardeman Co TN p. 138 (Green A. Sexton and Manervia Catherine Acord) John Raines m. Dicey J. Sexton 12-7-1873 p. 360 (I have a copy of the marriage bond for John and Dicey.Security was John Raines and Green Sexton)
John Raines and Sophonia (Dicey) Sexton had three known children: 1.Ella Raines b. 1876 Bolivar Hr Co TN; d. 1910 AR; m. John Graves (I didn't know about the "Sue" but it is in keeping with the naming pattern. 2.Henry Franklin Raines b. Nov 28, 1870 Bolivar Hr Co TN; d. Feb 8, 1959 Denver CO; m. Maggie Mathilda Josephine Hulsey 3.Johnnie Maybelle Raines b. Jan 30, 1878 Bolivar Hr Co TN; d. Aug 31, 1940, Greenville Hunt Co TX; m. William Thomas Parris (my grandfather and grandmother)
According to my information (not verified) Enoch Achord died in 1901 and is buried in the Ramer (or Ramah) Cemetery.I have not been able to find a death record or burial record for William or Susan Peak, Thomas Raines, Elizabeth Peak Raines Achord, John Franklin Raines, or Susan Raines or a marriage record for Susan Raines.
I hope I haven't repeated too much information that you already have.
