Thank you Ovelle, I have much the same information as you do except that I have not come down with the Raines family.Do you call the name Peak or Peck?
I suspose we may be correct in thinking that Elizabeth Jane died before the 1900 census since Enoch is listed as a widower then, but I don't know where she is buried either. My line of Achords comes down by the first wife Martha E.--?--, through daughter Mariah Adeline who married a Smalley.
From Marriages Hardeman county 1823-19o8 by Owens-Davidson-Cox, p. 328 Raines, Sue Ella to Graves John M. license issued 27 July 1889 , W.J. Milstead bondsman, solemnized by W.D. Galloway JP on 28 July 1889.Mr. Milstead was a clerk or something in the courthouse and signed as bondsman for many couples.I do not see marriage records for the other two children of John Raines in this book.
Your information is correct about Enoch Achord. There is a notice in the Bolivar Bulletin on 22 Feb 1901"Died Tuesday of last week, Enoch Achord, aged citizen of Hardeman County, at residence of son Marion Achord of the 10th district"I think that would make his death Feb 12, 1901.
It looks as if perhaps Susan was a second wife of William .She would certainly have been too young to be the mother of Tobert and Elizabeth.
