Dear Melanie, I about fell over when I read your message on the Ackermans. My grandmother was Alice Ackerman Herbert, your grandfather's brother. I have done quite a bit of family research - have lots on the Zeiters - they were from Uhrweiller, France.John Zeiter, Ida's father was a Civil War vet who was injured in the Battle of Antietam in 1863.His father Jacob, lived in NYC and was a 'night scavenger' according to an old city directory. (I refer to him as an early recycler).I have never found any connection to Daniel Boon. Pricilla's father was Thomas Boon, who was a cotton spinner in Paterson, NJ.Thomas' father was James Boon, also living in Paterson in the early 1800's. I have nothing earlier than that. Our Ackerman line came to America in 1662(?) on the ship 'VOS'from Holland. They were in NYC, until the English took over, and then moved to Franklin LAkes NJ.George Ackerman, (our ggf) son of James and Pricilla Ackerman, I believe was a captenter who died of throat cancer in 1900.A younger brother of Walter and ALice, George (Georgy) died as a young child of spinal meningitis. There was also a sister, but her name escapes me now. I am on my way to work now, but will pull out my Ackerman/Zeiter stuff when I get home. Nice to meet you, cousin! You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org SIncerely, Randi Herbert Robinson Sunnyvale, CA daughter of Charles S. Herbert jr, son of Alice Ackerman, daughter of George Walter Ackerman.
