I am almost certain that your Mildred Acklen is Mildred Merriweather Mc Ghee Carroll (widow of Dr. Richmond Carroll)born abt 1801. She married William Acklin in 1836, in Huntsville, Madison co, Alabama. He was born Feb 9, 1776 in Abingdon, Washington co VA, son of Christopher Acklin and Christian Black. In the 1850 census of Franklin co TN, in the 4th district, house 475, he is listed as a 79 year old farmer born in VA, with Mildred age 49 and William T age 11. Two house away is the household of my gggreatgrandparents William Shepherd, married to Mildred D Acklin, daughter of Mary Ann Lee and Alexander Acklin (a brother of your ancestor William Acklin). In the library of Winchester, there is some information in the Acklin folder that states that after the death of William Acklin in 1850, Mildred Acklin went to Texas with her son William T. This information was given on a card left in 1983 by a Rev. E. Acklen, who at the time lived in Falfurrias Texas. I have been unable to locate him. Maybe you know him. Yes, there was a Mildred D Lee that married a James Vance Acklin (another Acklin brother), but she is not your ancestor. The family story can be very confusing as there were three Acklin brothers James, Christopher, and Alexander that married three Lee sisters, respectively Mildred D, Sarah Gibson, and Mary Ann either in Winchester, or before coming to Tennessee from Virginia. There is actually another Mildred Acklin at that time in Winchester. She is Mildred V Acklin, daughter of Joseph Acklin (another Acklin bother) and Sarah ?. She married Thornton S. Pattie.
