My maternal grandmother's family name is Acton & I have been given as copy of a family tree for the name. For the latter part of the tree I have proved its accuracy but there is a gap of one (or maybe more) generations, that I have not yet bridged.
The information in the top half of the tree (that as yet I have not proved) is as follows:
Philip Acton married upto 4 times including a Hannah Hankey. Children of first marriage were William & John. William married a Parsons & his children were Philip, Margaret, Samuel & Fanney John's child was Samuel, whose child was Samuel
Child of the second marriage was Thomas. Thomas married a Sutton & his chilren were Thos, Philip, Samuel, William, Ann, John & James. There is a note to say that John died in 1853.
Children of the third marriage were Richard, Joseph, Mary & Samuel. Richard's children were John, Mary & Fanney Mary married a Sumner & her children were John, Philip & William Samuel's children were John, Mary, Clara & Margaret
Child of the fourth marriage was Charles who married a Mary White and his children were John, William, Samuel, Edward, Ann & Mary
The tree then recommences with Jesse Acton who was born around 1831 and married Caroline Hansen, originally from Denmark
I am led to believe that Philip came from the Acton Bridge area of Cheshire. Jesse came from Liverpool.
If anyone has any information on the accuracy of the top half of the tree or has any other information it would be much appreciated.
