In 1787, men living on yjr recently-defunct "State of Franklin" petitioned the Stste of N. Car.
Signing this petition was George Vincent.
In 1796. George and Thomas Vincent a were taxed in Sulliva County, George for 404 acres of land, Thomas for 136 acres. This was the first year there was a State of Tenn.
In 1788, William Goad received a grant for 200 scres on Horse Creek from the Staste of N.Car for his Rev. War service. The grant described the land as being between the dividing line of said Goad and George Vincent.
This was on or near Bays Mountain on which the Goads settled in 1782, William Goad earlier. It is atpresent-day Kingsport, Tenn.
In 1788, Thomas Vincent was Captain of a comnpany of militia tyhat went on the Chickamauga Expedition for 29 days. Two of his officers and several of the privates also lived near Bays Mt. in Sullivan.
