Hello all, I've been wrestling with the various Acuna lines in Spain in the hopes of finding a link between one of them to an Acuna family in or near Pontevedra, Galicia c. 1680-1700. Was hoping that perhaps someone might be able to advise as to which ones might be likely(given their geographical locations):
From a Lope Vasquez de Acuna (14th Century)and an unk wife or wives, I have 4 main lines:Acuna, Duque de Huete; Acuna de Falces(in Navarre); Acuna de Pinto y Caracena; and Acuna, Conde de Buendia(from which comes the Marquess de Vallecerrato and Acuna de Baeza). Not being familiar with these 4 lines, is there anyone who can tell me if any of these lines have cadet lines in Galicia or vicinity?
And then, if my defective/virtually nonexistent Spanish is serving me well, there is another line descending from a brother of the Lope Vasquez de Acuna named above; namely, from Martin III Vasquez de Acuna(d.c. 1417), who married Teresa Tellez-Giron and had Alfonso de Acuna(d. 1449)who married Maria Pacheco.Did this line survive and leave cadets? And if so, where were these cadet lines located?
Lastly, much, much earlier(probably late 12th Century), there was an Acuna line referred to as Acuna de Taverga(in the Asturias?).My instinct tells me that this Taverga(wherever it is)must be reasonably close to Pontevedra.
My earliest de Acuna is Pedro de Acuna, who was likely born c. 1710-1727, probably in or near Pontevedra, Galicia, but he may well have been born a bit "farther afield" than that.
And if I've managed to misconstrue these lines, please feel free to correct me as I need all the help I can find. Thanks and regards to all, Larry
