Seeking information on the following Acuña family: Manuel Acuña was born in Mexico, perhaps in Michoacan or San Luis Potosi in 1838.He and his parents came to California, probably about 1850 and settled near San Luis Obispo in San Jose township where Manuel became a Stock Raiser.About 1864 he married Maria Araujo.She was born in Mexico in 1848.The 1880 US Census shows:

In 1883 Rosa Acuña, (Manuel and Maria Acuña’s oldest daughter) and Benjamin Short had a daughter named Carmen.She was born 23 January, 1883 at San Luis Obispo, CA.Nothing further has been learned about Benjamin Short but on 16 Sep. 1886 Rosa married Espirorian Abril at San Bernardino, CA.Carmen described Espirorian as Frank Abril, step-father and said that she had been raised in a convent. She was married three times. First to Le Roy Conrad whom she divorced; then to John H. Barrows whom she also divorced and lastly to Reginald R. Fry.Carmen died 4 July 1963 at Riverside, CA.
