I have just read the message you posted about David and Abigail Adair. I have just picked up the geneology work begun by my husband's mother (who was Gertrude Vivian Adair) and I believe we are looking at the same line. Her information was as follows:DAVID ADAIR (1734-1811) came to Canada from New Jersey in 1788 with his wife ABIGAIL (1736-1821) and 3 children(probably the 3 younger ones). He settled on Lots 19 and 20, Concession IV, Clinton Township in 1835 and the house is still there. He became the first clerk of Township #5, ClintonTownship. Both he and Abigail areburied in Baptist Cemetry, Beamsville. I believe the date of David's death (1811) is more reasonable than your date of 1881. According to Vivian's work, David and Abigail had 5 children - JOHN (born April 14,1759 in New Jersey - died December 18, 1812) married to Phoebe Mills ( 1765- ?)and they had 13 children,DAVID, JOSEPH (1773-1856) married Charity Konkle (1787-1837) and had 7 children, MARGARET and MARY. One of John's 13 children was JOHN who married Ann Teetzel. Another of his children was WILLIAM (1795-1854) who married Martha Jane Cutler (1793-1871) amd he (William) is my husband's ggggrandfather. Hope this information helps. I have more if you are interested. I am very new to this and am trying to pick up Vivian's work. However, all the names and dates seem to fit.
