Alexander Adair may have been the guardian of his nephew Robert Adair b.1659 who was only two years old when his father, William, died in 1661.William's widow m. Arch. Edmonstone of Duntrieth.
Sir Robert Adair b.1659, when he disposed of his remaining Galloway estates to Lord Stair (Dalrymple) just prior to 1690, apparently reserved the jointure for life interest to Margaret Adair, his uncle's widow.
Dalrymple apparently fled to Europe and returned with King William for the Battle of the Boyne in Ireland in 1690. Perhaps Adair went with him and financed his venture by disposing of his property to Dalrymple.
Trying to ascertain the marriage and children of Alexander and (Margaret ?) Adair.
William and Alexander's sister, Jean, married her cousin Rev. Patrick Adair bc 1625.
