James Adair (shown b.c. 1727 Finnabrogue, Parish of Inch on the IGI) m. Margaret Maxwell, dau. of Henry Maxwell and Dorothy Brice.
Margaret Maxwell was sister of Edward Maxwell of Finnabrogue / Finnybrogue, Parish of Inch, co. Down, Ireland.
In the PRONI index it gives Lieut.commissions,co. Down 28 Sep 1756, James Crawford, Edward Brice Maxwell and James Adair.Also 21 July 1775 Donaghadee port intelligence 22 transports sailed 67 Regiment Foot, Col. Edward Maxwell.
The PRONI, Perceval-Maxwell papers show they owned, amongst others, the estate of "Gransha" which may be the property from which Joseph Adair or John Adair went from to Canada whom Joe is researching also.
I had noted a James Crawford, Downpatrick, 14 June 1746.
This James Adair family group were of Belfast, co. Down and London, being of the family of James Adair, Recorder of London.
Brother of James Adair was William Adair of Belfast and Flixton who apparently had son Alexander Adair who may have left Flixton to the Antrim Adairs, being the elder branch of the family.
This William Adair may have had daughter Ann Adair who m. Mr. Brice.
