Shirley - and anyone else who would like to comment: Since Bozeman Adare named his oldest son Whitmill Harrington, I have looked into the Harrington and Whitmill (Whitmell, Whitmel) surnames. Thomas Harrington b. abt. 1690 of Chowan Dist., N.C. m. Mary or Sarah Whitnell(?)b. 1713 of Chatham Co., N.C.(his parents; Thomas Harrington and Sarah Mason). Sons of Thomas b. abt. 1690: Whitmell Harrington b. 1715 Charles Harrington b. 1719/20 m. Agnes Hill (parents: Richard Hill and Tabitha Green). Children of Charles and Agnes 1. John b. 1742 or 1753 (also called Young John as Young was a surname in the family). 2. Whitmel b. 1749 3. Charles b. 1747/48 4. Sion b. 1755 m. Elizabeth Watts b. abt. 1758 5. Also show these marriages; Whitmel Harrington m. Sarah Rowe: son: Whitmell b. abt. 1777 of Chatham, N.C. Whitmell Harrington m. Jannet Shaw Feb. 2, 1741 in Craven Co., S.C.
Abstract of N.C. Wills: 1796 Charles Harrington, Bena (wife); Charles, Sukey, John, William and Whitmel; Nancy Carroll, Mary Stegall and Nelly Hudson (daughters). Would this Charles maybe be the son Charles of Charles and Agnes? (Part of Anson Co. later became Mecklenburg Co.).
Then this note: John Ryle m. ________Harrington in Anson Co., N.C. c. 1762. He was b. 1732/35. Sons: Whitmill and Larkin.
If you will look at message #1436 on this forum, reference was made to William O'dare serving alongside John Whitmeal and Alexander Adair.
Shirley, I know some of your messages recently have mentioned the names of Young and Maddox among others, will you check with your notes and see if any of this helps clarify where William and Bozeman were prior to settling in Ga. and possibly help determine who Bozeman's wife was for sure?
