Whilst I was looking up James Adair of Mecklenburg NC, I noticed a note re a deed - Mecklenburg Co. Courthouse Bozeman Adair to Wm. Crittention (however spelt Crittenden?) and they had this Bozeman was related to Bozeman b. 1771 VA. There was a Mary Adair b. Sep 19 1782, Mecklenburg Co. NC, I wonder if she may have been a sister ?
The earliest Adair I noticed was Nancy Adair b. Jan 9 1746, Mecklenburg Co. m. Harris Tyner 1768.
Would Nancy have been a relative of James Adair who had a deed Dec. 21 1763 (from Francis Beatey, District Surveyor?) of 200 acres Mecklenburg, NC on the west side of Catawba River and upper island (Thos. Stove) at mouth of Dutchmans Creek, opposite Thomsons Creek.
Then there were James and Mary Adear 1768, 1769 1771 1773 on Cleghorns Creek, Broad River (1773 may have been change of boundary to Tryon Co. NC).
May not be anything, but Sarah Cleghorn m. John Huddleston 1760, and there was a marriage between a Huddleston and an Adair.
In 1784 the committee bought 50 acres for a courthouse and jail on north and west sides of Cleghorns Creek, Rutherford town - sale completed Sep 7 1785.
